Project Engineer 3
Role Overview
Under the direction of some level of supervision by upper level engineers, the Project Engineer 3 designs all aspects of all thermal systems and process equipment meeting safety standards, project deadlines and project cost constraints to meet or exceed our customer’s needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review, interpret and document customer specifications, sales agreements, test data and other project related information prior to the “kick-off” meeting with the project team.
- Attend “kick-off” meeting with the project team to discuss project requirements highlighting critical design features, high risk areas, and/or areas of concern. Generate list of questions and/or missing information required to complete the design and manufacturing of the equipment.
- Attend “progress” meetings, including “kick-off” meeting, with manufacturing personnel prior to the start of assembly and “post job review” meeting with the project team after commissioning of the equipment.
- Responsible for information flow on projects, not necessarily performing all related tasks but delegating those tasks and ensuring completion of tasks.
- Manage the gathering of missing information from customer, vendors, etc., and document responses.
- Provide all aspects of the equipment design including necessary calculations, advance orders of long lead components, customer approval drawings, shop detail drawings for manufacturing using sound practical engineering principles and safety standards, while meeting project deadlines, estimated engineering hours and estimated equipment cost constraints. Review of complex tasks may be provided by upper level engineers.
- Based on skill set, may assign design tasks, and oversee lower level engineers.
- Provide direction to and assist in training of lower level engineering hires as instructed.
- If required, travel to jobsite independently or with lower level engineers to measure and inspect installation location and/or existing equipment to be retrofit.
- Develop working relationships with manufacturing department to address and resolve issues to produce the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost.
- Act as technical resource for Sales, Applications, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Field Service assisting in addressing and resolving questions and problems.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design and quality issues and ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods.
- Review build progress of projects in manufacturing to ensure equipment is assembled in accordance with the engineered design intent and to check for assembly accuracy.
- Provide special equipment testing requirements to Quality Assurance in a clear and concise format.
- Review all test data with Quality Assurance to ensure equipment performs properly and to design and customer requirements.
- Compile input from upper level engineers, Sales, Manufacturing, and vendors and use this information to work with lower level engineers to write and maintain engineering design standards. This includes standard engineering drawings, standard engineering calculations and standard engineering practices for oven design and vendor design data.
- Review designs of lower level engineers to ensure design meets or exceeds customer needs while staying consistent with Company’s engineering standard practices.
- May participate in the interviewing process for all potential new hires and provide input in making final candidate selections.
- May assist in the annual coaching process for lower level engineers to help manage their training and development. Ensure employees are performing up to their maximum potential and that goals are set appropriately for individual success.

Senior Controls Engineer 4
Role Overview
Under the direction of some level of supervision by upper level engineers, the Senior Controls Engineer designs electrical control systems for all thermal systems and process equipment meeting safety standards, project deadlines and project cost constraints to meet or exceed our customer’s needs. May be required to assist in directing and coordinating activities to meet project specifications and deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Mentor, coach and provide continuous training to aid in the development and success of the department employees as instructed.
- Review, interpret and document customer specifications, sales agreements, and other project related information prior to the “kick-off” meeting with the project team.

- Support Quality Assurance personnel and assist in the testing of equipment prior to customer buyoffs, including trouble shooting of PLC and HMI software programs where applicable to ensure safe and proper equipment operation.
- Support Quality Assurance and/or sales personnel on customer buyoffs of equipment, as necessary.
- Assign design tasks and oversee lower level engineers. Provide directions to and assist in training of lower level engineering hires.
- If required, travel to jobsite to support service personnel to resolve technical issues in the field.
- Develop working relationships with manufacturing department to address and resolve issues to produce the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost.

Application Engineer 3
Role Overview
Under the direction of the department Division Director, the Application Engineer 3 is responsible for supporting the sales team through the development of equipment/system concepts, technical documentation/engineering support and evaluation of competitive project costs. Support engineering, manufacturing and aftermarket teams through project management oversight and facilitating customer communication. Level 3 is a continuation of Level 2 where this individual is an experienced application engineer with self-supporting knowledge of the duties required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review request for quotes (RFQ)’s for completeness and develop project specific question list for submittal to customer.
- Clarify project RFQ scope requirements accomplished through scheduled meetings with sales and/or the customer.
- Review and comprehending customer specifications.
- Lead and perform process development testing for their specific projects: develop product specific test procedures and set-up test apparatus. Interface with lower level Application Engineers, manufacturing, and Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure proper test set-up. Generate and present test reports.
- Be technically astute and perform engineering calculations. This would include product heating/cooling load calcs, recirculation air calcs, strength of materials calcs, transmission calcs.
- Research and qualify vendor/manufacturer components for concept designs. Schedule vendor product demonstrations.
- Developed good working relationships with industry vendors and partners.
- Generate 2D sales drawings and/or Solidworks models of equipment/system concepts as wells as supporting ancillary components.
- Generate budgetary and firm project costs with competitive price considerations in mind to include base equipment pricing, optional pricing such as integrated systems, international shipping, and equipment installation.
- Order entry: review purchase order contract and develop internal and external job order documentation.
- General knowledge of HeatTek’s manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Project management: schedule and lead job kick-off meeting, develop customer Gantt charts through coordination with engineering and manufacturing, generate and maintain project open items list, facilitate internal/external status update meetings with project team and customer, monitor job costs and update project team of cost deviations, generate sales change documentation and generate final job cost documentation and schedule post job meeting with in-depth knowledge and analysis. Coordinate the procurement of customer product, generate factory acceptance testing (FAT) agenda, and assist sales with customer interface.
- Lead, the support role, for sales during customer buy-off of equipment as the application engineer assigned to related project.
- Provide on the job training and help oversee the work of other engineers within the department.
- Support the applications lead acting as a mentor and advisor to less experienced engineers as needed or requested.
- Represent the application engineers’ team at interdepartmental and stakeholder meetings.
- Be the subject matter expert in project (Job) related meetings.
- Capable of performing (leading) inspections and data collections while in the field at customer site during SOW verification and/or audit of equipment.
- In-Depth knowledge of ASME/UL/NFPA/OSHA/CE/NEC and other industry standards
- In-Depth knowledge of various Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell, Dungs (KDI) systems and other applicable industry used systems.
- Responsible to complete the tasks of keeping costing tools up to date. Assigned by the applications lead.

Field Service Technician
Role Overview
Reporting to the Aftermarket Division Manager, the Field Service Technician is responsible for inspecting and servicing the company’s and other manufacturer’s equipment assuring quality product performance. Address and resolve questions and issues regarding products of various types with guidance, as necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate proficiencies and meet requirements of an entry level electrician and have a high level of mechanical aptitude.
Entry level electrician: 3 phase wiring, control wiring, understanding of: limit switches, pressure and flow sensors and transducers, proximity switches, level sensors, trouble-shooting of single and 3 phase wiring, set-up of temperature controller, set-up of variable frequency drives, use basic volt/amp/ohm meters.
High level of mechanical aptitude: able to read and understand blueprints and schematics, basic of alignment of conveyor shafts, basic of bearing installation, alignment and lubrication, tensioning and aligning v-belt and chain drives, know how to use: basic power and hand tools.
- Responsible for installing, inspecting and starting-up company manufactured equipment at customer sites according to specifications and drawings.
- Responsible for servicing all company products at customer sites; testing, troubleshooting, and adjusting as needed.
- Use various gauges, meters, and electrical testing equipment to check specifications.
- Communicate with appropriate company employees regarding product issues to facilitate problem resolution.
- Complete detailed service reports and all required records and documentation for customers and for the company.
- Remain technically competent and keep current in new developments within the industry.
- Make recommendations regarding safe working methods.
- Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
