A longstanding marine motor manufacturer conducted a thorough evaluation of its legacy production process, which heavily depended on manual operator intervention. Escalating concerns regarding operator safety, production consistency, and product quality prompted the company to explore opportunities for enhanced automation across its coating workflow.

HeatTek engineered a fully automated coating system tailored to the client’s specifications. Departing from the original dipandbake method, a rollcoat approach was selected for its superior efficiency and compatibility with the customer’s product. To ensure the solution met operational standards, HeatTek collaborated closely with the client to pilot and validate the rollcoat process before committing to a final system design.

To further elevate throughput and thermal control, the system was augmented with integrated cooling capabilities, delivering endtoend handling that accelerated cycle times and increased product consistency.

The automated rollcoat system delivered several benefits. Eliminating manual immersion in the coating process elevated safety, process automation enhanced consistency and throughput, and the streamlined workflow increased operational efficiency.

Encouraged by the performance outcomes, the client commissioned a second, identical system to scale production. Furthermore, HeatTek was invited back to support additional process enhancements—specifically for equipment addressing shrinkfit and laminationstack epoxy applications.
